Bohemian Rhapsody banned in Georgia unless Islamic lyrics altered.

Updated: Jun 22, 2020

"Bohemian Rhapsody" is a song by the British rock band Queen. It was written by Freddie Mercury for the band's 1975 album A Night at the Opera and says a prayer to Allah.

ATLANTA, GA. Legislature in Georgia has banned the song Bohemian Rhapsody 45 years after its release because some evangelical Christian was watching the docudrama starring Remy Malek and was told what the lyrics in the song mean and organized a protest to government.

"The song was an American anthem. It's even got a gun and shooting a man in the head. How much more American can you get?" said Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, "But there are just one too many things unChristian."

Gov. Kemp continued on about how It even mentions the devil, in the lyric Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me. "I assumed that he put that in because he was a gay," continued Kemp. "and that he was going to go to hell because of what it says in the bible about them homosexuals."

The third thing about the song that appealed so much to him was the lyric, I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy. "If that doesn't describe my position on the subject, I don't know what does" added Kemp.

But the problem for him is that the word Bismillah is the Arabic word for "In the name of Allah." and is the first word and most frequent phrase in the Quran. "Islam is our enemy and American won't stand for it."

Protestors on the streets of Savannah demanding lyric changes.

When commented on by Thamansa Legend, a historian for the band Queen, she had this to say. "Yeah, sure the lyric is about Allah, and?" This isn't good enough for Gov. Kemp. Even though Freddie Mercury was Zoroastrian, which is one of the older religions, Gov. Kemp still had issue. "It's not Christ. That's the problem."

He did compromise and declared that the only way that the song can remain in Georgia is if there is an American/Christian version of the song produced by Garth Brooks or even Chris Gaines. "As well, the name needs to be changed, the words are too difficult to understand, what are we walking word meaning books?" he said, as he implied dictionaries.

Here are the following are the proposed revised lyrics for "American Rebel Song."

"American Rebel Song"

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a tornado, Jesus is my reality. Open your eyes, Look up to the skies and pray, I'm just a poor boy, I should work and get off the pogey, Because I'm easy come, easy go, Little high, little low, Any way the flag blows Jesus really matters to me, to me. Mama, just killed a man, Put a Glock 17, against his head, Pulled my trigger, now he's dead. Mama, it's in the constitution, But now they want to take it all away. Mama, ooh, Didn't mean to make you cry, If they come to take this gun from me tomorrow, I will fight, I will fight, because freedom really matters. Too late, the law has come, The gun powder smell is fine, Shooting straight bullets all the time. Goodbye, everybody, I've got to go, Gotta pay my medical bills and face the truth. Mama, ooh (any way the flag blows), I want apple pie, I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all. (but not abortion, not abortion) I see the hanging Jesus Christ of a man, Clint Eastwood, Clint Eastwood, will you do the Line Dancing? Barbecue and whiskey, Very, very frightening me. (Elvis Presley) Elvis Presley. (Elvis Presley) Elvis Presley, Elvis Presley, DeCaprio. DiCaprioo-o-o-o-o. I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me. He's from Alabama, from a poor family, Spare him his life, is there a pardon just for me? Easy come, easy go, will you let me go? Join in Christ! No, we will not let you go. (Let him go!) Join in Christ! We will not let you go. (Let him go!) Join in Christ!! We will not let you go. (Let me go!) Will not let you go. (Let me go!) Never let you go (Never, never, never, never let me go) Oh oh oh oh No, no, no, no, no, no, no Oh, mama meat pie, mama meat pie (mama meat pie, filled with dough.) Life in Jesus Christ has the devil put aside for you, not me, not me. So you think you can shoot me and piss in my eye? So you think you can maim me and leave me to die? In America, this can happen in America, Just gotta get out, no one wants your kind around here. (Ooooh, ooh yeah, ooh yeah) Nothing really matters, Our colors do not bleed, Nothing really matters, Only America matters, then leave. Any way the flag blows.
